  • Jaryeon Lee

    President

    Hey everyone, my name is Jaryeon, and I am honoured to serve as the president for this year's KAHS GSA exec team! I am a second-year MSc student in Dr. Scimè's lab and my research revolves around exploring different factors that affect muscle regeneration. I also look at different mechanisms I can alter to shift muscle stem cell behaviour. In the very little free time I have, I like reading philosophy, gofling, and hiking. I look forward to meeting all of you in our future social events! ♡⸜(ˆᗜˆ˵ )⸝♡

    Vice-President Interim

    Hi everyone, I'm Adi. I am a third-year PhD student in Dr. Perry's lab, where my research focuses on the effects of exercise on mitochondrial health and function in people with type 1 diabetes. Outside of the lab, I love to run, play sports (soccer, tennis, or squash) and watch movies........if you ever get me started talking about movies, I won't stop.....for a while (I am Chris Perry's student after all). 

  • Jasmin Tiwana

    Secretary

    Hey everyone! My name is Jasmin Tiwana, and I am so excited to be the secretary for this year's GSA team! I am a first-year PhD student working with Dr. Paul Ritvo, where my research explores how psychological stressors influence mitochondrial biomarkers - and I am now interested in investigating how physical stress might play a role as well. During my free time, you'll probably find me running along my favourite nearby trail (yes, I'm one of those people who actually enjoys cardio!), reading enemies-to-lovers romance novels, baking sweet treats, or spending time with my family and friends. I'm really looking forward to making this a fun and memorable year for all of us :)

  • Robert Kaden Jagoe

    MSc Representative.

    Hi everyone, I’m Kaden! This year I’ll be serving as the MSc Representative for the KAHS GSA team. I’ve just started my master's in Dr. Karl Erickson’s lab, where I’m exploring social identity in youth sport. When not working on research, I'm usually playing tennis, basketball, or catching up with friends. Excited to get to know many of you throughout the year at our events and activities!

  • Gwen Ehi

    PhD Representative

    Hi! My name is Gwen Ehi, your KAHS GSA PhD Representative and a second-year PhD student in Kinesiology & Health Science at York University. I work in the Population Health Data Science Lab with Dr. Antony Chum, where my research focuses on policy evaluation and how government policies shape health and social outcomes for marginalized communities. Outside of school, I love painting, knitting, collecting vinyl records, thrifting, and going on nature walks. I am excited to see all of you at the rest of the school year's events!

  • Samaneh Fatehi

    EDID (Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Decolonization) representative.

    Hi everyone! My name is Sam, and I’m a second-year master’s student in Dr. Riddell’s lab. My project focuses on how somatostatin receptor 2 (SSTR2) antagonism influences insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells. Outside of the lab, I enjoy spending time with my cats, drinking plenty of coffee, and hanging out with friends. I’m excited to serve as your EDID representative!

    Hi everyone! I’m Nicole, and I am a first-year MSc Student in Dr. Ceddia’s lab, where I am looking at the regulation of proteins involved in lipid metabolism in the liver by the ketogenic diet. As the social media coordinator, managing our Instagram account, I am looking forward to having a great year connecting with graduate students and hosting fun events!

    Hi! My name is Ann-Marie Burton, and I am a first year MA student in Dr. Michael Kalu’s lab. My research focuses on physical activity/literacy, CVD prevention, and Black older adults. I enjoy watching and playing sports, hiking and skating. I also love reading. I’m looking forward to being your Sports Representative, meeting all of you and having lots of fun!

    Hi everyone!
    I’m Nisha, your website programmer and a first-year PhD student in Dr. Michael Kalu’s M4 and Aging Lab. My research explores co-designing AI-powered recreational programs for older adults in immigrant communities. I’m also a cat mom who loves the wilderness — you’ll often find me on a trail or by the lakeside with a good book in hand. Excited to blend tech, creativity, and community for an inspiring year ahead!

    Hi everyone ! I'm Olivia, and I am a past president of KAHS GSA. I am a third-year PhD student studying cardiovascular and autonomic function in type 2 diabetes and how it relates to cognitive function, specifically, how upright posture alters cognitive function. In my free time I love reading, watching movies, and listening to music. I hope to have a lot of fun with all of you at our social events!

  • Monika Nguyen

    " Hi! I’m Monika, a second-year MSc student in Dr. Andrea Josse’s lab, where I’m currently researching how post-exercise nutrition influences the acute metabolic response, with a focus on glycemic regulation, insulin sensitivity, and lipid mobilization. Outside the lab, I love listening to music, lifting, and finding any excuse to grab a sweet treat (usually bubble tea).     Hi everyone, I'm Aliza! I'm a second-year master's student in Kinesiology. My supervisor is Dr. Brad Meisner, and my research focuses on aging. I am the Co-Conference Chair for GSA this year. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all and help running our annual conference.
